We joined Cosens MMA Lapeer about two years ago and absolutely love it, our oldest recently joined the black belts in training program and our youngest just earned his black belt in the tiny ninja class. The boys look forward to every class and even have “class” at home. Not only do the coaches teach them how to defend themselves but they teach respect and self discipline. Watching them grow and evolve within martial arts is the best thing. Seeing how excited they get when they nail a technique or pass their belt tests is something that I look forward to every class. Joining Cosens was one of the best choices we have made as far as picking extracurricular activities for the kids. 10 out of 10 would recommend. *pictures are from their first ever class and their most recent belt test

Cosens Martial Arts has been an amazing experience for our son. We have noticed so much improvement in our son’s mental & physical abilities. The coaches are outstanding and really know how to teach the children life lessons that will benefit them now and in the future. Highly recommend enrolling your child or yourself in this program!

Cosens in Lapeer has been amazing for our 5 year old son, Greyson. This class has taught him many things! Responsible, respect, focus, motivation, self control, confidence, hard work, and so many more things! Greyson also loves going to train his mind, body and spirit! This has been a great family decisions and we are very excited to see how he continues to grow into a little black belt ninja🥋

My 9-year-old is academically and musically inclined and last fall his teacher thought that he needed another outlet where he could engage his brain outside of school. Henry wanted to try martial arts and he even researched the local academies on his own. We brought him to a trial lesson at Cosens in Lapeer and we were very impressed. We like that Cosens is a life skill based academy and doesn’t just teach martial arts. Rather, they teach the kids how to be decent humans. Henry wanted to do the black belt training program but we told him that he needed to show that he was dedicated as it is a three year commitment. Over the last 7 months and 3 belts, Henry has proven his dedication and as of this week he is happy to report that his new gi is black! I do not think that we could have a better experience and we are very happy with the program and the coaches, especially Coach Pickvett!

My grandson goes here and the coaches and the parents are absolutely fantastic. I am very impressed with how well the coaches interact with the kids and the kids respond back. I highly recommend Cosens Martial Arts

I signed my son up and it was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made! He respects his coaches and others around him so much more! It's teaching him so much more responsibilities and making him focus more. I absolutely LOVE this place and his coaches are the most amazing, patient, caring people I've ever met! I love that the classes are small so they don't get overwhelmed and they can focus better! I love the respect that this class is teaching my son more than anything! I also LOVE that the coaches are VERY hands on and always asking how the parents like the class and how things are going for your child outside of the class! Id give 10 stars if I could!

I love how it's they still stay true to old fashioned values and the martial arts way while teaching high level, reality based techniques that have been tried and proven in different styles . They're truly building champions of life !!

Our three-year-old daughter has been attending here for about a month now, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the very first class, the instructors ( especially coach P) have shown incredible patience, kindness, and enthusiasm—exactly what you hope for when introducing a young child to a new activity. The classes are fun, structured, and perfectly geared toward her age group. She’s learning focus, discipline, and confidence, all while having a great time. We love how the instructors balance teaching real karate skills with playful elements that keep the kids engaged.

Update: my son still loves this program and so do we! He is now an orange belt. 😊 My son LOVES his class. Coach Ford is great with the kids. I’m noticing my son’s confidence improve after 4 classes and he love practicing his skills at home too.

The class is fast paced which is prefect for children. They genuinely care about the students success, and give lots of encouragement during and after class.

My son absolutely loves his class at cosens! Coach Ford is a great role model and does such an amazing job teaching him and encouraging all of his students. I am so glad we found Cosens and we tell everyone we can about what a great experience we’ve had 🙂

Great environment, the kids love it!

Coach Ford is amazing!! He’s extremely knowledgeable and patient with the kids! My 6 year old son loves learning his ninja moves and practicing them at home! Will definitely be signing him up again in the future!

I took my 8 and 7yo in for a sample class. Instructor was very knowledgeable and great at coaching them. They really enjoyed it! I would definitely recommend them for anyone interested in the sport!

This gym is amazing. I came in for a lesson for both myself and my son. I won't lie, I was pretty nervous and didn't know what to expect, but It was better than I could have imagined. Informative, practical, and fun. Coach Ford makes a great role model for young boys and men especially. Can't wait to start classes and watch my son develop and grow here.
